Setting a Resolution!!!

Happy 2015!!!!!
Now it's time for a New Years resolution! Right?!?!

Well, this year mine is not to lose weight! I am on a roll, and have lost 60 of my 70 baby weight pounds! But, that's another post all in itself!!!

I just started the new year off jobless! That's right! On purpose that is. I had my last day as a bartender yesterday! I am now officially a STAY AT HOME MOM!!!! Somewhere between three kids, a job, a husband and finishing my Bachelors degree....I was losing my mind!!!

I think my new years resolution is going to be to stop %#@&*$!# cursing! HAHA!! Working at a bar didn't help keep my mouth clean for sure, but I have three kids for goodness sake!!! I definitely don't want them talking like a sailor! So far to ween myself off the dirty words, I am replacing them with silly ones like "fudge" and "sugar". Eventually I'd like to not be tempting myself with dessert words, but for now it will have to do. Plus, instead of looking at me like I just flushed their favorite toy down the toilet or something, the kids giggle when I say my "bad word replacement". I will definitely let you know how it goes!!! Happy #$%@&*% New year to you all! ....KIDDING!!!

Turn an old window into a photo display!

When I was pregnant with my youngest son, my sister-in-law found us this awesome vintage window! I didn't know what I wanted to do with it, but I knew I wanted it to be a part of my home! I had the idea to turn it into a picture display in the nursery.

I went to my local hardware store, and bought the following items:

Galvanized wire
1 1/2 inch screws
Valspar sample size paint
Craft ribbon
Clothes pins

Already at my house:

Drill
Hot glue gun
Lighter
Fabric puff paint

Step 1: Lightly sand any areas on the window frame that have loose or chipped paint. **most vintage windows have lead paint. You want to make sure no loose pieces could fall off or peel.**

Step 2: Paint the window frame. You can do a light coat, or two coats depending on your preference for color. If you are doing a color change, two coats should be used.

Step 3: Screw in the screws. AFTER the paint has dried, decide how far apart you want your picture rows to be. Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure and mark where you will put the screws. **Make sure you put one screw on each side the same length from the top of the window frame. You can even use a level. This is important because the wire will go from one screw to the other and will need to be level.**

Step 4: Wrap the galvanized wire around screws, and stretch to the adjacent screw and wrap again. This should make a clothesline effect, and will be what you hang your photos on.

Step 5: This step is optional. Decorate the clothes pins using the craft ribbon and super glue. You could also color them with markers. If you use ribbon, you can lightly seal the ends of the ribbon with a lighter or a thin strip of hot glue to keep if from unraveling. But be careful!!!!!!!!

I drew a picture of grass on the actual bottom of the window to help it blend with the decor of the nursery. I used fabric puff paint.

Well, that's it! Hang it on the wall, hang our favorite photos with the clothes pins and enjoy!!!!

Happy memorial day everyone!!! :))

Art Lives Everywhere

I decided the perfect title of this blog should be "Art Lives Everywhere" because, well...It does! I spend everyday of my life trying to find a way to do something creative everyday. This can become a challenge with three kids, school, a job and little free time. You learn to discover art in places you don't typically think to look. Whether it's spending a little more time on my make up, landscaping in the garden, painting a wall, or coloring a picture with my two year old, I try to do something creative everyday. Even people who don't consider themselves to be creative really are creative. Think about it....How did you convince your three year old to get dressed this morning? How did you get your boss to like you? How do you stretch that budget of yours so far? All of that is considered creative thinking. Sometimes getting through the day is art in itself. See? Art IS everywhere!
